Win by Reavie ramps up buzz about new Titleist driver

July 28th, 2008
By James McCarten

Chez Reavie’s remarkably cool-under-pressure win at the RBC Canadian Open on Sunday has a lot of gear aficionados buzzing about his new Titleist driver.

The latest in the Titleist D series, Reavie’s 909D2 helped him find 44 of 56 fairways en route to his first PGA Tour victory. The club itself looks remarkably like a Cobra driver _ a consequence, no doubt, of the fact the development guys at Cobra had a lot to do with the club.

Early chatter on the club is that it has the potential to vault Titleist back into the driver-superiority race after a long line of solid and reliable but ultimately less-than-stupendous driver offerings.

Cobra, meanwhile, has been turning a lot of heads lately, between the success of its stable of PGA Tour stars (Ian Poulter and Camillo Villegas, to name but two) and some strong marketing, including the recent rat-a-tat attack of a short-form TV campaign starring David Feherty.

Stay tuned for a more complete review once we can get our hands on one.
