Dougal Departs Coppinwood; New Head Pro at St. George’s
By Robert Thompson
Euan Dougal, the head pro at Coppinwood, the high-profile club outside of Toronto with a course designed by Tom Fazio, is leaving in the New Year to take a position at a private course in Scottsdale, Arizona. I’ve known Euan for several years — since he became head pro prior to the opening of Eagles Nest, and have always found him great fun to play a round with, and enjoyable for his frank, honest opinions. I wish him well in his new gig.Â
In other news, apparently Colin Thompson, the former associate pro at St. George’s Golf and CC has apparently taken over the head position following the departure of Cameron Wiebe. There’s lots of rumors circulating throughout the golf industry about St. George’s following the departure of Wiebe and general manager Michael Chadsey. In my experience, both men were among the best in the Canadian golf business, but apparently there’s something afoot at St. George’s.

Ah Euan,
You probably don’t remember me but I knew you for a good little while as a caddy at Beacon Hall.
I don’t really know how to express how great a guy he is other than to say I wish he was taking me with him!
All the best on what sounds to be a great position in a great location!

Euan will be missed @ Coppinwood. He was a significant influencer for why I joined…he embodies the spirit of what Head Pros should be. The membership at Silver Leaf will be lucky to have him and his pink striped JL pants.

As a young assistant golf professional at Silverleaf here in Scottsdale, Arizona USA, I’m very excited after meeting Mr. Dougal during his interview process. He appears to be very genuine, and a great mentor to young professionals wherever he has resided. I can say I am very excited to work alongside Mr. Dougal, as is the entire professional staff at Silverleaf.

I work for Cameron Wiebe now in Florida and let me tell you theres no surprise why his contract wasn’t renewed in Canada. Lets just say he’s not a very likable guy.

Please disregard all positive comments regarding Euan Dougal, as they have turned out to be misleading and inaccurate.
