Photo tour of Eagle Ridge (Georgetown) Golf Club
By Jeff Lancaster
When Clublink bought this course I was pretty disappointed it wouldn’t be public any longer. Was always a fun course for a decent price.
Well, I have got on the course since it went private – and am happy to report that Clublink has done a nice job sprucing up the course since the purchase. Not only a new clubhouse, but also lots of improvements to the course. Had a chance to play it again today and here is the visual evidence. Notice: lots of new deep bunkers and re-shaped holes.

The first hole is a typical example (above) – the entire green site has been re-done. A deep bunker protecting a sweeping green is much more interesting than the relatively non-descript (original) 1st hole.

The short second hole features a great downhill tee shot as you start to move down into the valley. New bunkers here as well along the fairways.

The tight third hole (still original).

This is my favourite hole at Eagle Ridge (I still think of it as Georgetown G & CC), the seventh hole with it’s tough downhill tee shot. The green is not visible from the tee – it’s tucked around the corner and requires a shaped approach.

The wacky tenth hole with its extreme dip. Golfers must lay up short of a large valley and then hit their approach to a shallow, steeply sloped green across the way.

Pretty cool hole – par-3 14th. Pretty tough carry over the waste area for the average golfer.

Looking back at the steeply sloped, dogleg-left 17th hole. This par 5 tightens up immensely as you approach the green. Tricky hole.
All in all good to see Eagle Ridge again today for the first time in a few years. It won’t be holding the Canadian Open anytime soon – but still has lots to offer.
